First Order Stormtrooper Executioner has been painted beautifully. As you know, the helmet design has been revised rather significantly, and this new style has been applied to the First Order Stormtrooper figures in the Star Wars line. Both have been made from 2017’s SW First Order Stormtrooper figure. The two “new” figures in this six-pack are the First Order Stormtrooper Executioner and the First Order Stormtrooper Squad Leader. It may have served TARGET and Hasbro better to add one or two obscure characters into this set, or add the main character Resistance Tech Rose and make her truly exclusive to this set without a mainstream release offering. We understand the need to keep the main characters in a retailer exclusive like this, but the repetition is a bit much. You’ll save some money, and you can get them all in one fell swoop. If you want to get all of these figures, then you’re better off buying this multipack instead of buying them individually. Rey (Jedi Training) only comes with her lightsaber and we find it a bit odd since she utilizes so many accessories in the film. There are no differences between the figures in the six-pack and those released into the mainstream line. Captain Poe Dameron, Rey (Jedi Training) and Kylo Ren are all from the mainstream 12-Inch Figures line. It doesn’t come with any accessories this time and sadly shows the holes that the snap-on parts would have covered. BB-8 is a slight repaint of the figure from the three-pack released during The Force Awakens line. Sure, most of the faces here are already familiar, but now these characters are wearing duds from Episode VIII instead of Episode VIII. The BB-8/Captain Poe Dameron/Rey (Jedi Training)/First Order Stormtrooper Executioner/Kylo Ren/First Order Stormtrooper Squad Leader is comprised of six diverse characters from The Last Jedi. You’d think that with how cheap it is to make these 12-Inch Figures that Hasbro wouldn’t try to attain a 50% or greater ratio of newness for a retailer exclusive. The awfully named BB-8/Captain Poe Dameron/Rey (Jedi Training)/First Order Stormtrooper Executioner/Kylo Ren/First Order Stormtrooper Squad Leader six-pack contain only one-third new figures, so if you bought the rest of the figures separately on their own, then you’re going to have a lot of repetition in this set. Now we just get blown-up versions of the characters in the 5POA line, with a couple of extra points of articulation. Sure, the “old school” figures, in many instances, borrowed Hasbro’s GI Joe body over and over and over again, but a facet of collectors appreciate the uniqueness that had been attained with each successive release. Gone are the days where 12-Inch Figures had real soft-goods clothing and an array of accessories. There are many debates surrounding Hasbro’s current 12-Inch Figures line. As expected, the same type of exclusive was released for the Star Wars line in support of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi film releasing December 15, 2017. Ever since the Rebels toy line, Star Wars collectors have been conditioned to expect a six-pack of “shampoo bottles” from retail giant TARGET every Fall.
